When in the best time to see the cherry blossoms in Busan?
Busan is usually one of the first cities after Jeju to welcome the cherry blossoms, due to its geographical location (south). This means that you should plan to visit Busan at the end of March, usually the last week, and pray that it doesn’t rain, as the blossoms will unfortunately fall more quickly.
How to get to Busan
From Seoul, you have two options:
- By KTX: this should take 2.5 hours and cost around $45. Remember to book in advance, as tickets sell out very quickly, especially for the Seoul-Busan route. You can get more information on timetables and ticket prices directly from the website.
- By bus: you’ll need between 4h30 and 5h for a price starting at $27. This is the cheapest option, and if you’re not in a hurry, the most cost-effective too. The buses are comfortable and you’ll have a stop to buy food and snacks before reaching your destination. Find out more here.
1. Oncheoncheon (온천천)

Address: Yeonsan 9-dong, Yeonje-gu
How to get there: you can take the subway (Donghae Nambu line, blue-grey), stop at Donglae station and walk for 15mn before arriving to the stream and the park
In spring, the stream near Pusan National University is covered on both sides with pretty cherry blossoms, offering a unique and magical sight. Stroll along the banks of the river, sample some sweet cotton candy – specially prepared for the occasion – from one of the stallholders and relax on one of the nearby benches.

Strolling through the park is like escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and entering a peaceful world where you’re accompanied by the sound of flowing water along the river and surrounded by beautiful pink hues everywhere you look.
2. Namcheon-dong (남천동벚꽃거리)

Address: 36 Gwangil-ro, Suyeong-gu
How to get there: you can take the subway (line 2, green) and stop at Namcheon station, then walk for 20mn before reaching the street
Located close to Gwangalli and its pretty beach, Namcheon-dong is a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing. The area is quiet and the ocean is only a few meters away. Combine your visit with shopping, dining or simply relaxing on Gwangalli’s pristine sandy beach while waiting for nightfall to admire the beautifully illuminated Gwangan Bridge.
> Please note that the cherry blossom trees surrounding the area may disappear in the coming years, as reconstruction of the neighboring apartments is planned. Don’t worry, though, as the city plans to plant hundreds of cherry trees in the vicinity of the newly redeveloped area.
3. Daejeo Ecological Park (대저생태공원)

Address: 2314-11 Daejeo 1(il)-dong, Gangseo-gu
How to get there: you can take the subway (line 3, brown), stop at Gupo station and walk for 5 minutes before reaching the park
A tunnel of cherry blossom trees along the Nakdonggang River and its enchanting scenery? It’s definitely a must-see in Busan! Plus, its many different flowers make it the ideal place to enjoy nature and birds all year round, because every season is beautiful here. And, as in all Korean parks, you can even choose to combine health and pleasure, as you’ll find plenty of facilities for the more athletically inclined!
Pro tip: if you come in spring, you’ll also have the chance to attend another famous event in Busan: the Canola Flower Festival. So isn’t Daejeo Ecological Park the best place to be while the flowers are blooming
4. Bongnaesan (봉래산)

Address: Cheonghak-dong, Yeongdo-gu
How to get there: from Busan station (line 1, orange), you can take bus 82 for 15 stops and get off at the Sinseon-dong Community Service Center. You’ll then have to walk for about 15 minutes to reach the start of your hike.
An easy hike, breathtaking views of Busan and the cherry blossom trail – that’s what you can expect on this mountain. So, if this sounds like the perfect day out, you know where to go on your next trip to the coastal city!
5. Dakbatgol Mural Village (닥밭골벽화마을)

Address: 87-218 Dongdaesin-dong 2-ga, Seo-gu
How to get there: you can take the subway (line 1, orange) and stop at Dongdaesin station. Walk around 20mn before arriving in front of the stairs leading to the village.
Often overlooked and little visited, this is one of the reasons why this area is so special. In spring, the trees around the staircase turn vibrant pink to the delight of onlookers. The colorful mosaics and art installations around the village will also make your exploration unforgettable.
Don’t forget to climb the Staircase of Wishes in the hope of making your own wish come true, or hop on the free monorail – run by friendly locals – for a pleasant and relaxing ascent!
6. Samnak Ecological Park (삼락생태공원)

Address: 686 Samnak-dong, Sasang-gu
How to get there: you can take the subway, Light Rail Transit line (purple), stop at Gwaebeop Renecite and walk around 15mn before you arrive at Samnak Eco Park
One of my favorite springtime spots in Busan, similar to Daejeo Eco Park, Samnak’s riverside location, peaceful surroundings and 12km-long tunnel of cherry blossom trees make the place straight out of a fairy tale.

Walk slowly, take in every fleeting moment of the beautiful cherry trees, relax and free your mind from worry!
7. Gaegeum Cherry Blossom Culture Road (개금벚꽃문화길)

Address: 765 Gaegeum 2-dong, Busanjin-gu
How to get there: you can take the subway (line 2, green), stop at Naengjeong station and walk 20mn on a steep road before attaining the base of the stairs
Usually a quiet street, the area has become quite popular over the years thanks to its scenery, beautiful bridge walk and picturesque village with blue-tiled roofs. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a little peace and quiet, it’s best to come here early in the morning or late at night!
8. Jinhae (진해)

How to get there: from Seobu bus terminal, you can take a 1hr bus ride that will cost you less than $5
Jinhae, famous throughout the country as one of the most splendid towns in which to watch the cherry blossoms, naturally has a festival dedicated to the beautiful pale pink flowers. The event, which often lasts 10 days, is not to be missed by locals and foreigners alike.
The two most popular spots are Gyeonghwa Station, where you can stroll along the railroad tracks surrounded by numerous cherry trees and take photos of the now-retired train, and Yeojwacheon Bridge, famous thanks to the drama “Romance” and now aptly named “Romance Bridge”, which will transport you to a dreamlike world.
You can also satisfy your cravings by sampling cherry blossom-themed dishes and drinks, including the iconic cherry blossom bread, before continuing your exploration of Jinhae.
Pro tip: as the Cherry Blossom Festival is very popular in Jinhae, plan to go early in the morning to avoid the crowds (you can catch the first bus at 7 a.m. and leave in the early afternoon).
In conclusion
Are you in Busan during the cherry blossom season? You won’t be disappointed, as the city boasts some of the most beautiful sights you could ever dream of. Whether in the city or in nature, Busan in spring is a dazzling, soft pink paradise.
